Let’s have a cuppa and chat Central Highlands Consumer Advisory Group

Closes 15 Jul 2025

Opened 15 Jul 2024

Overview

Let’s have a cuppa and chat.

Our Consumer Advisory Group meets monthly. It is a great opportunity to have a cuppa and a chat with the leaders of Central Highlands Hospital and Health Services.

Our next session is on Thursday 12 September at 5.30pm.

Why your views matter

This is a great way for community to be involved and have your say in local hospital and health services.

Our last meeting was held in August, this is what we talked about.

We talked about:

  • In July, we heard that Patient Travel is a hot issue.
  • Our community needed more information on Patient Travel Subsidy Scheme (PTSS) to better understand the process.
  • We looked at and discussed some patient feedback about PTSS in Central Queensland.
  • It was also announced; From 1 August 2024, Queenslanders travelling to access healthcare under the PTSS won't have to pay for accommodation, in full, thanks to the removal of the four-night rule.
  • We had a chat about the Patient Communication Boards, also known as bedside boards, and what they are used for and why.
  • We also talked about organisation called ‘Remote Australians Matter’.

We will:

  • Follow up with the PTSS team to discuss ways to improve communication of the process.
  • Continue to promote the Consumer Advisory Group to the Central Highlands region to encourage more people to take part.

Next steps for the Consumer Advisory Group:

  • Emerald Hospital to host monthly meetings
  • Promote for more people to take part (bring a friend)
  • Set up a Microsoft Teams group to encourage chats
  • Set the next date and communicate!
